When it comes to the NBA everyone knows of the drama surrounding LeBron James and his impending free agency in 2010. The Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping that "Bron-Bron" stays right where he is and doesn't chase the large sums of money that will be thrown at him.
The New York Knicks have made a big attempt in the past week to show their determination in luring big name free agents come 2010 (namely, James). The once proud franchise traded Jamal Crawford to the Golden State Warriors and Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers. If the Knicks can somehow unload Eddy Curry, they should be set with all the spending cash they need.
In LeBron's recent trip to Madison Square Garden, it appeared as if King James was playing in a home game, with the reception he received. The courtship has begun for the services of "your highness."
Now, for those who follow wrestling, we are all aware of the Christian Cage saga. He is currently under contract with Total Nonstop Wrestling (TNA) for the next few days and the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wants him to return. Cage and TNA's creative staff decided to write Cage out of the current storylines while he ponders his decision.
During his previous stint with the WWE, Cage was an immensely popular superstar but was never able to get past the mid-card level. After his contract expired, he carried himself more professionally. He felt his talents would be better suited in TNA. After coming to this conclusion, he went over to TNA without burning any bridges with WWE majority owner, Vince McMahon.
That in itself, is highly unusual. Wrestlers and other athletes usually make a big deal when it comes to contract negotiations. A lot of times athletes and wrestlers will badmouth their former employers.
Vince McMahon realizes how well Cage can be as a top name talent. He figures that Cage can be a valuable asset for him.
Recently in the WWE it can be seen as if McMahon is trying to appease Cage. McMahon doesn't have to do this, but you can't say it doesn't make things harder for Cage. Does Cage stay at the current promotion where he is a big fish in a small pond, or does he go to the big time and risk falling off?
We've seen what the Knicks have done in their pursuit of LeBron, so let's look at what's happened in the WWE to attract Cage.
- Vignettes have been shown promoting the impending debut of Kizarny, formerly Sinn Bowdee of FCW. Kizarny is a childhood friend of Cage and Edge.
- Edge has recently made his return to the WWE to capture the WWE title.
- It has been reported on various sites that Tomko has signed a contract to return to the WWE.
- A potential feud between the Edge and Jeff Hardy is on the horizon.
The possibilities are endless in the matches Cage can fight in with the superstars that now exist in the WWE.
With James, we have to wait two years before we see what he does. For Cage we only need to wait about two weeks. I hope that both superstars make the move.
