Mancini: Carlos Tevez "Finished" at Man City

c lSep 27, 2011

Manchester City's 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich this evening won't be remembered for Bayern's Mario Gomez's two goals or City's leaky defense.

Moreover, the debacle of Carlosย Tevez's refusal to budge from the bench will dominate the back pages tomorrow morning. The Argentinian striker was named as a substitute this evening but then appeared to refuse to come on when asked.

In response, the club's manager, Roberto Mancini, went as far as to declare Tevez to be "finished" at the club in the post-match press conference because of his actions.

Tevez, long disgruntled at the club and now almost certainly headed for the exit, was due to come on around the hour mark, however, Mancini told BBC Radio 5 Live: "We were 40 minutes to the end. And after five minutes Carlos was ready to go on. After that he refused to do warm up again and refused to go on the pitch."

The media will likely be harsh on Tevez, who has a history of causing upset in the Man City backroom, having already demanded transfers a number of times and stating his continual reluctance to remain at the club. Graeme Souness branded Tevez "a disgrace to football."

It remains to be seen whether Tevez will be sold in January, loaned out or simply has his contract terminated by the club. Popular fan opinion on Twitter seems to be to condemn him to the reserves and abandon him to sweat out his contract.

All that is clear tonight is that Tevez appears to have made his last appearance for City, or, rather, not.
