College Football Rankings Week 5: Who's the Real Number One Team Between LSU & OU
Well, it only took four weeks, but College Football has their first split number one in the polls. Released today, the Associated Press and The USA Today Coaches polls have LSU and Oklahoma as their number ones.
So the question is, who’s the real number one?
The case for Oklahoma can be made that they started the year ranked number one in both polls. They’ve won every game that they have played. They’ve gone on the road to play Florida State, who was ranked fifth in the country at the time. And they dominated in their first conference game this year against Missouri.
The case for LSU can be made that they’ve beat three ranked teams this year. All of those games have been on the road, all of those games have been on National Television, and all of those games have come without their original starting quarterback. LSU has dominated every team they’ve played this year. And LSU has never trailed at the end of a quarter this year.
There is still a lot of time before now and the end of this season. These two teams have a ways to go before any BCS Championship controversies can come up. But for now, these two teams are the best in the NCAA.
