College Football Rankings: Alabama Should Be No. 1 After Blowing out Arkansas
They’re currently the No. 2 school in the coaches’ poll, but after completely annihilating their SEC West rival Arkansas, who by the way was ranked No. 14, the Alabama Crimson Tide should be ranked No. 1 over the Oklahoma Sooners.
Sure Oklahoma beat Florida State on the road, which was a big victory, but the Crimson Tide’s 38-14 blowout over Arkansas was more impressive.
RB Trent Richardson proved that he’s easily one of the best backs in the nation, while WR Marquis Maze is picking up where Julio Jones left off.
In addition, Alabama arguably has the best special teams and defense in the country, as evidence by them shutting down Bobby Petrino’s high-powered offense, as well as Marquis Maze having a sick punt return for a TD.
Other than LSU being the only comparable school, Alabama is the most complete team.
That being said, when LSU and Alabama play in early November, there is where the country finds college football’s No. 1 team.
Yes the Sooners are a Top 5 team, but with the SEC having won the last five national titles, until they get knocked off, the best team from that conference is the best in college football.
Not to mention both LSU and Alabama’s schedules are more difficult than Oklahoma’s.
