According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Archie Goodwin has made his decision to attend the University of Kentucky and join John Calipari's backcourt in 2012. The shooting guard dropped UConn and Kansas from his list earlier in the day and announced that on Twitter. Hours later, he tweeted, "If you don't know by now I'm a Wildcat!!!"

Memphis and Arkansas were the two other teams that made the final cut, before Goodwin chose to head to Lexington. The official announcement is expected to happen tomorrow morning. Kentucky receives the third ranked shooting guard and No. 13 overall in his class.

Goodwin is expected to be in attendance when the Wildcats partake in Big Blue Midnight Madness. He should receive a solid reception from a crowd that loves their recruits year in and year out. Calipari has made it known that reeling in top recruits is his specialty and the case with Goodwin is just more evidence to that. He had an in-home visit with him last Thursday.

This news all comes after Kyle Anderson selected UCLA. John Calipari was after Anderson earlier in the year but backed off after Ryan Harrow decided to transfer from NC State to Kentucky. Harrow will be at point guard and Goodwin at shooting guard in the near future for the Wildcats' backcourt.

Goodwin is the first recruit to be a part of Kentucky's 2012 recruiting class. He could be joined by Shabazz Muhammad or Perry Ellis very soon.
