Marquette Basketball

Let's Check in on Marquette

Bleacher Report Senior Analyst INovember 25, 2008

Since they are one of the five teams that make up the header of The Bucky Channel (or The Eagle Channel, for the time being), I suppose it's time to take a look at how the Golden Eagles are doing so far this season.

Currently, Trenni's alma mater is ranked number 15 in the country in both polls. They've gone 3-0 in the young season with wins over Houston Baptist, Chicago State, and in the big crosstown battle against UW-Milwaukee.

Lazar Hayward and Wesley Matthews each knocked down 25 against UWM last weekend, while Jerel McNeal added 22. Dominic James added 16 of his own, as well as notching eight assists.

If there is one thing the Golden Eagles have this year, it's going to be home court advantage. Marquette only leaves Milwaukee three times before we need new calendars, and one of those trips is only to Chicago.

There are some tests along the way, however. Marquette hosts the annual game between them and Wisconsin this season, which will take place on Dec. 6. They then head to Nashville to take on Tennessee as part of the Big East/SEC Invitational.

Best of luck, though, to the Golden Eagles this season. With four of their Big East opponents currently ranked in the Top 10, they might need it.
