WWE Night of Champions 2011: Is Dolph Ziggler Ready for the Main Event?

Tonight, there was a great Fatal Four Way. It saw some awesome moves from each of the four men involved. At one point, each man seemed poised to win the United States title.

In the end, Dolph Ziggler would pick up the scraps of Jack Swagger and retain his championship.

Vickie Guerrero was absolutely ecstatic. In fact, she was more excited than Ziggler.

She would use the moment to promote the idea of herself as COO. While that will never happen, it was an important moment that may be the catalyst for the biggest push of Ziggler's career.

Guerrero was so happy about being the manager of a US Champion that she failed to remember that she never really helped Ziggler. She helped Swagger in the contest but not Ziggler. He won cleanly by stealing Swagger's pin.

Through the whole match, Ziggler looked less like a heel than he typically has. Perhaps this is an indication of a growing change where Ziggler does not need Vickie.

A possible scenario being set up is for Ziggler to realize that he does not need Guerrero and start distancing himself from her. Guerrero could turn on Ziggler and align with Jack Swagger to make the All American the US Champion. The instant cheers Ziggler would get by turning on Guerrero could make him a major face in the WWE.

Are we witnessing the birth of a new main eventer? A new face in the main event scene that could begin a quest toward his first world title reign over a day long?

I don't know if he is ready for that recognition and success, but it looks like he may be headed that way.
