College Football Rankings: South Florida Bulls, Contenders or Pretenders?
To this point in the 2011 college football season, the South Florida Bulls are only one of two undefeated Big East schools at 3-0-the other being the No. 16 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers.
And although the Bulls do not meet the Mountaineers until Dec. 1, there’s a good chance that No. 17 ranked South Florida could run the table to then.
So are the South Florida Bulls contenders or pretenders?
Well, they defeated the then ranked No. 16 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend mind you, and really gained some confidence.
The next toughest game are the Pitt Panthers on the road in late September, but South Florida is the better team.
Thereafter, they only really need to worry about the Miami Hurricanes who come visit the Bulls in mid-November.
And Miami just upset the then ranked No. 17 Ohio State Buckeyes (now unranked).
However, with QB B.J. Daniels who’s only throw one pick to six TDs and compiled 869 yards, as well as WR Sterling Griffin (20 catches for 224 yards), the Bulls will be difficult to stop.
Just be sure to keep South Florida on your radar as the season progresses, because they could very well be ranked in the Top Ten in a few weeks.
