Dainius Zubrus has been very solid all year without putting up stellar offensive numbers. His all-around game has significantly improved over last year, and last night, his offense picked up the pace as well. Zubrus collected the first four-goal game of his career, as the Devils wallopped the Lightning 7-3.

Meanwhile, Brian Gionta scored in his fourth consecutive game (incidentally, the Devils have won all four), and Patrik Elias recorded three assits, and now has 11 points in his last five games. Who said this guy isn't having a bounce-back campaign?

Outside of a weak stretch in the second, in which Scott Clemmenson allowed three unanswered goals (including a penalty shot goal to Ryan Malone), the Devils routed a team that they should be thumping, even with all their injuries.

I'm not sure why Clemmenson keeps starting, although perhaps Brent Sutter is just playing the hot hand between his two backup goalies. Then again, I'm not sure why Clemmenson's hand is any hotter than Kevin Weekes'.
