Boxing fans from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Cali. got to see a featured attraction on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz, which is going down on HBO PPV, tonight.

The co-main event matched up undefeated Mexican and WBC light middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (38-0-1, 28 KO) and Alfonso Gomez (23-5-2, 12 KO).

Alvarez successfully defended his title with a TKO in Round 6 over The Contender competitor, but not with no trouble.

Alvarez got a knockdown in Round 1, but there were a couple cautious rounds that left Gomez win the majority of the first five rounds.

Alvarez was looking for one shot and got it in the sixth round. He backed up Gomez with a right hand and followed up with a flurry to get the referee to jump in and stop the fight.

Alvarez holds victories over Ryan Rhodes, Matthew Hatton, Lovemore N'dou, Carlos Baldomir and Jose Miguel Cotto.

The 21-year-old is considered to be a future superstar and appears to certainly be on his way.

Now, they just need to get him in the ring with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
