Falcons' Arthur Blank to Bring MLS to Atlanta

Mike at My Soccer Blog comments that Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons, is looking at expanding his ventures, and is including Major League Soccer as one option. The gist:

Arthur Blank, owner of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, wants his sports operation to expand outside of American football and Major League Soccer is high on his list. Blank said he is "actively looking at" bringing a Major League Soccer expansion team to Atlanta. He described it as "in the exploratory stage" and said the team would need a soccer-specific stadium. "We're out looking at stadium sites right now ... in a variety of places," he said.

Mike seems to think the idea has legs. As a big soccer fan, I'd love to see him do right with this. There are definitely a lot of young kids in the suburbs of Atlanta playing the game, so it'd be nice to provide them a local outlet to watch professional soccer, even if the MLS is still a cut below other leagues around the world.

If nothing else, it'd be an alternative to watching this.
