As reported on Liverpool's official site, Kenny Dalglish gave the latest fitness report for his squad ahead of Sunday's game away at Tottenham Hotspur.
Glen Johnson is the only player certain to miss the game; he will be out for around five more weeks with a hamstring strain. Dalglish will be disappointed that Johnson is injured again so soon after returning to the squad, particularly with a challenging run of fixtures ahead.
In the next five games Liverpool will be away at Tottenham, face a short trip to their neighbours for the Merseyside derby and also tackle Manchester United at Anfield.
With Johnson unavailable, it is very good news that Martin Kelly is back in training. Kelly has impressed when he has played at right-back and gives Dalglish another option when considering how to deal with the pace of Gareth Bale at White Hart Lane.
Liverpool fans will surely be excited that Steven Gerrard is progressing well, though he may not figure for Tottenham with Dalglish stressing that he would not be rushed back into action.
Dalglish will be loathe to press Gerrard into action if it at all risks any recurrence of his injury and threatens another lengthy spell out of action for Liverpool's dynamic attacking midfielder.
Johnson's brief return should serve as a warning to the Liverpool fans who, understandably, want to see Gerrard's inspirational influence return to the team as soon as possible.
