The Texas A&M Men's Basketball Team added a big piece to their 2012 recruiting class when Alex Caruso committed to Billy Kennedy today. Caruso is a 6'5", 180 pound wing player from A&M Consolidated High School just down the road from the Texas A&M campus.
Caruso's father is an associate athletic director at A&M, and he was a ball boy at A&M basketball games while growing up.
Caruso is a top 100 national player who is ranked among the top 10 shooting guards in the country. He chose the Aggies after visiting Colorado last week.
Caruso will team up with fellow 2012 commit PG J-Mychal Reese to form the Aggies' backcourt of the future. Caruso is still growing, and may eventually end up at small forward.
Alex Caruso burst onto the recruiting scene this summer with a big performance at the Pangos All-American Camp.
Caruso chose the Aggies over offers from Creighton, Nebraska, Arizona State, Colorado and Texas Tech.
The commitment of Caruso continues the recruiting momentum created by Billy Kennedy and his staff this summer, as they have gained verbal pledges from J-Mychal Reese, a PG from Bryan (TX) High, and Kendrick Nunn, a PG from Chicago (IL) Simeon Academy.
Shabazz Muhammad, the top-rated recruit in the 2012 class, is expected to make his second visit to Texas A&M next weekend.
