The Denver Broncos official website and ESPN.com's Bill Williamson are reporting that rookie safety Josh Barrett is finally going to make his debut for the Broncos on Sunday against the Raiders.
You're probably asking, "Who's Josh Barrett?"
Rewind back to the NFL Scouting Combine where the former Arizona State star made a name for himself by running the 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds, fastest among safeties.
This was extremely impressive as Barrett measures up at 6'2" and 225 pounds.
Many NFL Draft scouts had Barrett pegged as a sure-fire third round draft pick, and some even had him going in round two.
However, an inconsistent senior season scared the GM's off a bit, and Barrett fell to the Broncos in the seventh round (220th overall).
Barrett saw limited time in the pre-season for the Broncos where he recorded 13 tackles, good for fourth on the team.
In a surprising move to Broncos' fans, Barrett was waived prior to the regular season and added to the practice squad where he has been for the last eleven weeks.
Finally, on this his 24th birthday, Barrett received the greatest gift he could have imagined: A game day uniform and a spot on the active roster.

Yes, I definitely am one of the people who have been waiting for Barrett to get out on the field. I actually just published my own article about Barrett, but it's more of an editorial about what role he could play. I can't wait to see him out there, and wow, fastest safety in the draft? That sounds really good!

I'm excited to see your work on him Henry, I loved him when I was watching the Combine on TV. I actually projected him to go to Denver in my mock draft, so I was really excited when they got him.
