Cristiano Ronaldo is about to be made the highest paid player in premier league history as Manchester United pull out all the stops to keep the worlds greatest player at Old Trafford.

Currently, Ronnie sits in third place in the champions’ top-earners club with only Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand earning more. But with constant speculation about a summer move to Madrid, Sir Alex has held talks with the Glazer family to point out why it is so important to break the wage structure and keep Ronaldo in a red shirt.

Chelsea’s John Terry is currently the top earner in the Premiership, earning a whopping £130k per week, but now the Glazer’s have given Fergie the green light to assemble a £44M contract which would tie Ronaldo to the Red Devils until 2014 and pocket him £140k weekly.

According to Sir Alex, Cristiano is happy at the club and has no intention of leaving anyway, but as has been proven in the past when there is a concrete offer on the table, the Galactico’s are often hard to refuse.

With Ronaldo’s scintillating displays so far this season however, United realise he would be nigh on impossible to replace. With 27 goals in as many appearances, he is now within touching distance of George Best’s all time record of 32 goals in one season for a winger.

Surely Ronaldo’s ego would be satisfied at being the league’s top earner though, and hopefully for United fans all over the world, by the summer break we will be glad to see the new golden boy of old Trafford sign on the dotted line.
