After a relatively close game against the Richmond Spiders (1-1), the Syracuse Orange (3-0) opened Friday's game against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (1-2) with an 11-2 run and never slowed down. With 6:33 left in the first half, Syracuse's lead had exploded to 21.

Jonny Flynn lead all scorers with 18 points, Arinze Onuaku added 14 points, three blocks, and five rebounds, and Eric Devendorf tacked on 10 points coupled with seven assists. But perhaps the best performance from the Orange came from freshman forward Kris Joseph, who grabbed six rebounds, two steals, and 13 points in 19 minutes.

Senior guard Johnathon Jones lead the Grizzlies in almost every category with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Senior Erik Kangas added 15 points and five rebounds.

The Orange lead by 19 at the half and opened the second with a 9-4 run, too. The Grizzlies made an attempt at a comeback, but the closest the came was 14 points.

Junior Paul Harris lead the Orange with nine rebounds and three blocks, and classmate Andy Rautins, who returned this season after tearing his ACL last year, added seven points and two assists.

The first true test for the Orange comes on Monday when they face off with the Florida Gators (3-0, #18 AP, #19 Coaches) in Gainesville. This happens to be one of my 15 games to watch before Big East conference play starts—the first was USC at Seton Hall, and hopefully you watched that one.
