Serena Williams was fined $2,000 today for berating the chair umpire in the US Open Women's final against Samatha Stosur on Sunday. After Williams yelled while the ball was clearly still in play, the umpire awarded Stosur that point and—in doing so—the game, en route to Stosur's first Grand Slam title.

Williams wasn't pleased about the decision, and fumed throughout the rest of the match.

"If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way. You're out of control. You're out of control. You're totally out of control. You're a hater and you're just unattractive...inside.

"Who would do such a thing? And I never complain. Wow. What a loser. I get a code violation because I express who I am? We are in America, last I checked."

This went on for a bit, as you can see in the video above, including Serena telling the umpire "Don't. Look. My. Way."

Sure, Williams was just venting during the heat of the moment at a crucial time in the match, but she clearly stepped over the line with her actions, again. Fining her $2,000 is ridiculous. As Chris Chase of Yahoo pointed out:

Serena made $2,656 per minute at the U.S. Open. Her fine was $2,000. That means she made that money in [that] 45 seconds of court time.
