Derek Dorsett to Return to CBJ Lineup
After an ugly 7-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, the Columbus Blue Jackets have re-called Derek Dorsett (pictured above) from their AHL affiliate the Syracuse Crunch. The move is not a surprising one at all. The Blue Jackets came out flat and looked like they were playing bumper cars all night instead of playing hockey.
"Derek gives the team a lot of energy," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He doesn't bring it once in awhile. He brings it all the time." —The Columbus Dispatch
Energy is something the Blue Jackets definitely need. They currently sit at 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 8-8-3 and a total of 19 points. The good news is that they are only one point out of a playoff spot.
During his tenure with the Blue Jackets earlier this season, Dorsett showed that he was not afraid to agitate and mix things up with the opposing team to get the energy flowing through the hockey club. He played 10 games and had a goal, an assist and led the team in penalty minutes with 56.
Keep an eye out for Dorsett come Saturday night in Atlanta, where the Blue Jackets get their first look at former teammate Ron Hainsey.
