Notre Dame Football: Is Brian Kelly on the Coaching Hot Seat?
Dead last in the country in turnover margin.
That sums up Notre Dame’s football team in one statistic this season. They’ve put up over 500 yards in both games they’ve played but have only gotten 25.5 points per game out of it.
Call it lack of preparation, mental immaturity or poor execution but the Irish are once again out of Top 25 and would need an absolute miracle to get into a BCS bowl game. They look like a Sun Bowl team at best.
But does that mean Brian Kelly’s job is in jeopardy?
Some experts think so but Notre Dame would be foolish to let him go.
Looking at the statistics of the games, the Irish should have won easily but poor quarterback play prevented them from getting the “W.”
One position does not define a team, even if it is quarterback. Kelly has already made great strides defensively but the transition is still a work in progress.
Take out the leader of that progress and you start over from square one with a new coach who would likely face the same problems as Kelly.
It may be hard to keep in perspective now but Brian Kelly is the right guy for Notre Dame.
