I'm not going to lie to you. When the Omaha World-Herald's quasi-blog first broke the news that Joe Ganz did not practice yesterday, my stomach sank a little. Ganz - the reigning Big 12 Player of the week - is the heart of the Husker offense. Thankfully, Ganz is apparently fine. Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson says they were "just letting the young kids play."

So, it appears the backup quarterback competition remains very real. And, hey every backup player is just "one play away" from being thrust in to the spotlight. To whom would the Huskers turn if Ganz ever really did go down with an injury?
