What can be said about LeSean McCoy that nobody already knows? The guy is amazing. McCoy destroys the St. Louis Rams defense with a scorching 49-yard rush for a touchdown. After Rams' defensive end James Hall whiffed on an attempted swipe of McCoy, the writing was on the wall; no one was going to catch the speedy McCoy.
This play is a perfect example of why Eagles fans and fantasy owners are so high on McCoy. Once he gets through the defensive line, he is a wizard at navigating the backfield and practically impossible to catch in open space.
McCoy broke out last year with his first 1,000-yard season with seven TDs from the ground, and was a threat in the air with 592 receiving yards and another two TDs. This play offers a glimpse of the major year McCoy is poised to have. With this play, McCoy surpassed the 100-yard mark for the game, the first of many Eagles fans expect him to have this season.
The major significance of this play is that not only is it the feather in the cap of McCoy's extraordinary day, but it also is the final dagger in the back of the Rams who fought valiantly, but in the end look to fall well short of the Eagles. We might be reporting a different story today if Rams running back Steven Jackson had remained healthy throughout the game. But in the NFL, a win is a win, and the Eagles have a lot of wins to look forward to this season.
