The San Diego Chargers and Minnesota Vikings have some pretty notable injuries for the game. Though the injuries to these players might not be crippling considering the circumstances, they could have repercussions throughout this game and, eventually, throughout the season. Here they are:

  • Vikings: QB Donovan McNabb (Probable); TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Probable); CB Asher Allen (Questionable)
  • Chargers: WR Vincent Brown (Questionable); WR Patrick Crayton (Questionable); LB Jonas Mouton (Questionable)

These injuries will hurt the Chargers both in this game and in the long-term scenario -- it's widely considered imperative for the Chargers to start fast, and without their kick returner (Patrick Crayton) and rookie wide-out Vincent Brown, the Bolts will be thin at wide receiver. It'll be tough for Brown to not get many reps in the first game and it could hinder his involvement with the offense.

The Vikings will likely remain unaffected, since Shancoe and McNabb are likely to play; the possible loss of cornerback Asher Allen, though, is disappointing especially against Philip Rivers. The Vikings don't have the priority of a fast start that the Chargers' do, but in the competitive NFC North, ever game matters and a loss to the Chargers would hurt their chances of winning the division.

Regardless, these injuries aren't going to be crippling and shouldn't limit either team -- all of the Vikings' players are probable, while the Chargers' questionable players are ones that are replaceable on the Bolts' squad considering their receiving corps is still largely intact.

It'll be interesting to see how the teams decide to play the game should some of these key guys not play, though.
