BCS To Determine This Year's NFL Playoffs!

So...the guys who run the BCS have taken things to levels we never saw coming. After claiming success from their system, the BCS will officially determine the NFL Playoffs starting this year! Wait, what?!

That's right, folks! The flawed system known as the BCS is making its way to the pro ranks. With that said, I wonder how they will plan for the controversy in the NFL? And how will Roger Goodell Castro handle this shocking news? Let's take a look at the current NFL Division Leaders as it stands today:

AFC

Tennessee Titans, AFC South (10-0)

Pittsburgh Steelers, AFC North (8-3)

New York Jets, AFC East (7-3)

Denver Broncos, AFC West (6-4)

NFC

New York Giants, NFC East (9-1)

Carolina Panthers, NFC South (8-2)

Arizona Cardinals, NFC West (7-3)

Green Bay Packers, NFC North (5-5)

These eight teams look to have a chance to at the NFL Playoffs, but the BCS Computer will most likely see things differently. It's no surprise that the BCS does play favorites. So would this mean that New England would get in without clinching the division? It could, but what if they fall a game short of the wild card?

We rely on the computer so much that it's become clear that most of America would be fine with the current results. So if we stick with the current plan of attack that has been used in the NFL for a long time, here's how the postseason would look if it started today.

AFC Postseason: Titans, Steelers, Jets & Broncos would be in with Miami and Baltimore (Better Division Record) claiming the Wild Card

NFC Postseason: Giants, Panthers, & Cardinals would be in as Division Winners. However, Packers and Bears would have one more game to determine winner of NFC North due to same division record. As for wild card, Cowboys and Buccaneers would get the empty slots.

Sounds complicated right? Well imagine when the BCS gets involved. There's the SOS (Strength of Schedule), Division Record, Conference Record, Hair Color, Mother's Maiden Name, Astrological Sign...I think you get the point. If we were to look at this from the BCS perspective, here's how we would see the Top 10 BCS NFL teams:

1) Tennessee Titans (10-0, 7-0 AFC, 4-0 AFC South)

2) New York Giants (9-1, 6-0 NFC, 3-0 NFC East)

3) Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3, 7-1 AFC, 4-0 AFC North)

4) Carolina Panthers (8-2, 5-2 NFC, 2-1 NFC South)

5) Arizona Cardinals (7-3, 5-2 NFC, 4-0 NFC West)

6) New York Jets (7-3, 5-3 AFC, 3-1 AFC East)

7) Denver Broncos (6-4, 3-4 AFC, 2-1 AFC West)

8) Green Bay Packers (5-5, 4-4 NFC, 3-1 NFC North)

9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-3, 6-2 NFC, 2-1 NFC South)

10) Chicago Bears (5-5, 4-4 NFC, 3-1 NFC North)

Let's hope that this little experiment doesn't last long. This formula is way too damn complicated for even my sober side to figure out. The BCS is already a giant clusterfuck in the college ranks. But do you realize how many teams would get screwed out of a possible opportunity at the NFL Playoffs? Hopefully Sunday, this picture will become a little clearer.

But if the BCS was determining all sports postseasons, we'd be royally screwed.

Good thing this is a fantasy that will never come true. And now...you can wake up and return to your regularly scheduled team/writer bashing.
