Rider came out of the gates on a 20-5 run in the first five minutes of the ball game. Soon enough, they found themselves on top of Siena 59-34 at halftime.
The fifty-nine first half points set a school record for Rider University. NBA prospect Jason Thompson had 15 points and 11 rebounds at the half. Everything seemed to be going the Broncs' way.
The second half was a totally different story. Siena opened up the half on an 18-9 run, and trailed Rider by sixteen points. The difference between Siena in the first half and Siena in the second half was that they were being more patient, taking better shots, and hitting their shots. The Saints hit their first five three pointers of the half, and Josh Duell's tough defense took Jason Thompson out of the offensive picture for most of the half.

After cutting the Rider lead to eight points with just over four minutes remaining in the game, Siena appeared to have a chance of winning the game. Siena was only able to get one defensive stop in the final three minutes of the game, and they were unable to convert it for a basket. Rider dribbled out the clock with twenty seconds left, and when the buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read Rider 89 Siena 75.
Jason Thompson dropped 23 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to complete his second 20-20 game. Jason's younger brother, Ryan, scored 20 points in the victory.
Kenny Hasbrouck led Siena with 23 points, and Edwin Ubiles scored 18.
With the victory, Rider (17-6, 10-2 MAAC) extended the nation's fourth longest win streak to nine games, and separated themselves from Marist and Siena by 1.5 games as the leaders of the MAAC.
Rider hosts Siena a week from tomorrow.
