There is another football game of importance tonight: Arizona at Oklahoma State in a college showdown at Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The host Cowboys come into the game ranked ninth in the country and everybody's favorite sleeper special to win the Big 12 if in-state rival Oklahoma stumbles. OSU comes into the game with a 1-0 record after a 61-34 shellacking of Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Wildcats are also 1-0 after opening the season with a fairly easy 41-10 win over Northern Arizona. Clearly it's a big game for both teams as OSU looks to stay in the top 10 and Arizona looks to make a statement and perhaps crack the Top 25.
That's not the only subplot, of course. Both teams have outstanding quarterbacks, both teams have outstanding receivers, and both are sitting back watching the goings-on around them when it comes to conference realignment and expansion.
Could Oklahoma State be joining Arizona in an expanded Pac-16?
Anything is possible at this point now that Texas A&M appears headed to the SEC and the Big 12 appears headed to imploding. By this time next year, the Cowboys and the Wildcats could become even more important—a league game.
We'll get into that and more over the course of the game.
