With the oft-injured Steven Gerrard being the club's only creative midfielder moving forward, Kenny Dalglish has been looking for elite depth in that position. According to a report by talkSPORT, his search has led him to Ajax and their Danish 19-year-old Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen is the latest graduate from the Ajax academy that has brought up so many great players through the years. He is considered one of the top footballing teenagers in the world, and has been chased by the majority of Europe's top clubs.
The attacking midfielder tore his way onto the world stage in the Dutch Eredivisie, becoming a key player for them and leading them to a league championship last season. He has also established himself as a centre piece in the Danish international team, bringing them back onto the map and leading them to a prime position for Euro 2012 qualification.
If Dalglish wants to pounce, it'll have to be now. Manchester United are also interested in a replacement of Paul Scholes, and AC Milan are joining the chase.
Eriksen is highly touted and extremely talented. It would only be a matter of time before he'd surpass Gerrard in the pecking order in the Anfield midfield.
