It's being reported that Al Harrington is going to be traded to the Knicks. Al is being traded to the Knicks for either Jamal Crawford or Malik Rose. Malik Rose is an expiring contract, while Jamal Crawford has a three year $30 million dollar contract. There may also be other players involved such as Marco Belinelli, Marcus Williams, etc. There are positives and negatives to both trade scenarios.
1. Malik Rose = undersized PF with expiring contract = youngsters play.
2. Jamal Crawford = Three year $30million = youngsters don’t play and Monta possibly on his way out. But Crawford can be REALLY good in Nellie's style. Think Larry Hughes but more consistent.

In regards to talent, no doubt I take Jamal Crawford. Guy gets 20/2/4. If we get Jamal Crawford there is no doubt that somebody has to go when Monta comes back, if not somebody will request a trade.
With Malik Rose and his expiring contract, it leaves us with $10 million in cap space. With this money we can pursue a mid-level free agent Power Forward at the end of the year such as Paul Millsap, Leon Powe, Brandon Bass and "Godzilla" look-a-like Chris Wilcox.
If we had more money left I would say pursue Carlos Boozer, but many teams will be after the big guy this summer. I'd be ecstatic if we're able to snag Millsap. However, a lot of things can happen in eight months, who knows who will have the cap space and what else will happen to our team.
Can't comment too much on this trade, because I'm not sure who else is involved.
Things are getting interesting indeed.

Wow. ESPN says it's Crawford.
I don't see why Monta has to go, though. The line-up would be:
Crawford
Monta
Maggette
Captain Jack
Biedrins
However, this would set back B-Wright's development. Unless Golden State is planning to move him and/or Maggette for a good PF.
Also I read somewhere that Crawford can opt out in '09, have you heard this? (If he did, though, the cap space would be there also).
Either way, if this is true, the Warriors just got another almost 20-point scorer for a player who was pouting on the bench, and they were winning without.

This move's message is obviously clear: The Warriors want to make the playoffs this year and even make a push deep into the playoffs. Umm..i don't get why Monta would have to go. Crawford is a SG and Monta will be a PG. Plus, they're pretty versatile and could alternate together. However, there may be some issues regarding our explosive players.
Thanks for the article.

Counting Morrow and Azubuike, The Warriors now have 5 guards on their roster who are capable of putting up 20 pts on any given night. 6 guards when Monta comes back.
It's a nice problem to have if you disregard contracts. I just hope there is going to be no problem trying to resign Morrow and I hope this does not signify that end of Monta. Remember it's been Monta vs. Rowell and Cohan.
If Crawford plays well for us we can trade Maggette, if not we can trade Crawford. Crawford/Maggette to a contending team in the East, not the West where he can kill us in a return game.
Cleveland is a team we can trade him to Cleveland fans should accept the inevitable. Lebron James is going to be a Knick in 2010.

Corey Maggette to Chicago for Drew Gooden(expiring) or Andres Nocioni.
I'd do either one, and let's face it. Chicago is set. They have Derric Rose, but they could definitely use a solid 2nd or 3rd option. Gordon is a free agent after this year and they have Deng and Nocioni at the 3 spot with Heinrich to back up the 1/2 spot. Maggette is also versatile enough to play the 2/3 spot.
I'd take Nocioni for 4 years and $30 million instead of Maggette at 5 years 50 million.
Basically a switch with the Bulls of long term contracts, Maggette is more expensive, but he scores much more than Nocioni.

Garlic, I agree...Gooden for Maggette would be a great deal...And Gooden would LOVE to come home to the Bay. Bulls are basically going to sacrifice a playoff run to get D Rose the experience this year. My high school played against this guy in the California championships....He was a beast at El Cerrito!!!!

Ryan,
I'd rather have Nocioni over Gooden. Nocioni is the hybrid 3 pt. shooting PF that Nelson loves. He also very tough. He has the body type and toughness of Eduardo Najera with the same team first mentality, but he's just much more skilled.
