In a meeting in Glendale, the heads of both the CFL and NFL agreed on a plan to let the Buffalo Bills play the first-ever Canadian NFL game in Toronto next December‚ after the CFL season has ended.
The agreement also calls another for another seven games—four regular-season and three exhibition—to be played on Canadian soil, on dates to be named later.
The strong Canadian dollar is one of the factors driving the Bill's to expand their Canadian fan base. Canadians already buy nearly 15,000 tickets per game in Buffalo games.
But is this just the opening step to placing an NFL team in Canada?
The Buffalo metropolitan area has a population of 1.25 million, as opposed to Southern Ontario's 4.5 million. That is a lot more beer and hot dogs.
Another interesting tidbit is that an Argonauts ticket is about 250 bucks, while a Bills' game can be seen for under $80. If you were a Canadian football fan, wouldn't you do the math?
Don't think for a minute that this is limited to football. Remember the outdoor hockey game in Buffalo, which over 70,000 thousand tickets? Well, they can play 2 games side by side in the same stadium if the rinks are sideways—and I would bet that will be coming in the near future.
Just follow the mighty dollars and you can figure anything out—sports-related or not.

Is this the beginning of the Bills' departure from Buffalo? I remember when the Packers played some games in Milwaukee because they thought Green Bay could no longer compete asa n NFL city
but you're right, this is purely an economic decision based on the increasing value of the Canadian dollar.

Just a note, a good Argonaut ticket is a closr to $80 and most of them are less than that.

Good article, and mostly true I believe. I think it's sad though, because Buffalo is a great sports city with excellent, devoted fans and a rich history. However, you are correct; the leagues will go wherever they can get the most money.
