New York Mets: Team to Beat in the National League
Now that the Mets have completed the signing of Johan Santana, New York is the team to beat—not only in the NL East, but in the National League.
Looking around the NL, there aren't any other true contenders.
Santana has already dominated the American League. Just think what he'll do in the easier National League.
Without a doubt, Santana will win the NL Cy Young. He'll join fellow Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez as the only pitcher to win the Cy Young in both the American and National Leagues.
From a Met fan's perspective, this year's squad is beginning to resemble the Mets of 2006.
New York now needs to beef up its bullpen. Even though Duaner Sanchez is coming back form his 2006 shoulder injury, we still don't know how he will fare.
But now that the Mets have their ace in the hole, they'll be a force to be reckoned with.
