Canisius signed Rob Gagliardi on Wednesday. A 6'2" SG from Canada, he performed real well in FIBA U18 Americas Championship and the 2008 Albert Schweitzer Tournament. This is a huge steal for the Griffs, as he was being recruited by VA Tech and Clemson among others.

ESPN gave him a score of 73 and had this to say:

"Gagliardi excels as a shooter from the perimeter, though he does not have the typical height that coaches love in shooting guards. However, playing at the right level for his ability, Gagliardi could spend more time at the 2-guard, where he seems more comfortable, though he can man the point in a pinch. He has great range on his jumper and can connect consistently from well beyond 3-point range. Gagliardi can heat up and drain jumper after jumper, even contested 3's when he gets it going. He plays hard but gives up size to most opposing shooting guards. He also struggles a bit when pressured, which would make him more effective playing with another ball-handler, allowing Gagliardi to come off screens for jumpers."

He was at the home opener on Tuesday against UB and he really enjoyed the energy and atmosphere created especially by C-Block, the student section.

I am really excited about this pickup because he will give us a much needed shooter.
