The WWE is always looking to find new and exciting ways to get viewers to tune in, especially when it comes to Wrestlemania. They have already made Wrestlemania weekend a wrestling fan's dream come true with the addition of the Hall of Fame ceremony the night before, but there's a way to step it up once again.
I'd like to introduce the idea of a Hall of Fame match. There would only be one per card and it would happen every year. Much like the money in the bank match that is one of the most highly anticipating matches that reoccurs year after year, the HOF Match could potentially steal the show.
With the addition of the HOF match we could see stars come out of retirement for the battles we've always wanted to see or the matchup we've long to see again. Plus, it's the perfect way for wrestlers to return for one more match without ruining a well drawn out retirement storyline, i.e. Ric Flair.
But this match isn't envisioned to bring wrestlers like Nick Bockwinkel, who can no longer go, back. It could be used to pass the torch to a an up-and-coming legend or to settle an old feud.
I mean who wouldn't want to see Hogan w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Flair w/ Bobby Heenan one more time? Or what about Dusty Rhodes and Cody Rhodes vs. Ted Dibiase and Ted Dibiase Jr.? You could even have The Rock make his long awaited return to battle one on one with Jeff Hardy. The combination are endless.
It's something that could easily be done and the results could be everlasting. Remember the goosebumps from the Hogan/Rock face-off? It's what wrestling is all about. And it could make the $50-60 PPV well worth it with one match alone.
What HOF match would you love to see?

won't happen. i wrote an article several weeks back about having a "legends of wrestlemania" battle royal for the 25th anniversary but that won't happen either. many of these guys are old and out of shape and it would be more embarrassing than a bad divas match! (and with some legends the boobs would be bigger).

So you think Hogan would never return for one more match? Flair's already hitting the wrestling circuit as we speak.
I already stated that we would go ahead an exclude those who are no longer in the shape to wrestle, but new wrestlers are being added each year. It wouldn't be that far off to see 1 match per wrestlemania.
And if the match, maybe more importantly the money, was right maybe they could lure back the rock who is still in great shape. This may be a stretch as he's distance himself from wretling.
Both The Rock and Stone Cold could be inducted at any time which would make them eligible for the match. And Stone Cold has been saying he's got one more in him. What better time than the world's biggest stage?

I loved when The Rock went against Hogan, who at that time was not a Hall of Famer but was condiered the best of the past, and he went against the best of the present The Rock. Also last year's epic HBK and Flair match was awesome. Stone Cold is supposed to be in this year's wrestlemania so I just want to see his opponet.

Yeah I know. Lets just hope the match isn't wasted on a five minute squash with Santino, Charlie Haas or someone of that comedic nature. If he's going to do one more, I hope that it'll actually be worth watching instead of a Raw-like cameo.

Hey I'd love to see a John Cena versus Stone Cold or randy Orton vs Stone Cold myself, it would be sort of like the Rock and Auston again with Cena or even Orton to me

I could see an Orton vs. Austin match at WM 25. They could use the "Legend Killer" gimmick for Orton going into the match.

Austin v. Rock at Wrestlemania 25 would be epic. Or Austin v. The Undertaker. Hell lets just go ahead with Austin v. Vince in hell in the cell

all great choices. what about austin vs hbk or rock vs hbk?
from about 1 month ago
Well you couldn't use that again, I mean he faced Flair last year. If it were HHH or Undertaker going against them it would be different
from about 1 month ago
Maybe not, but how many times has triple h headline wrestlemania in a row? I don't think it would be any less memorable to see hbk take on an old foe once again just because he sent ric off the year before. there's still a great story behind the match.

what about we see Edge vs Austin, Y2J vs the Rock, Taker vs Hogan, man there are so many combinations. This would be a great idea lets see if Vince can actually be sane and think of these ideas.

Yeah, edge vs austin has some unique feel

if you are doing a "fantasy league" then great but it won't happen.
the rock is being told to stay away from wrestling to propel his acting career, it took alot to get him to appear at the hall of fame ceremony last year and he didn't even hang around for WM XXIV.
now it is possible for some legends to return to the ring but it would be with some sort of storyline involved and not just for a "annual legends match".
from about 1 month ago
Well obviously there has to be some sort of build up, it's wrestlemania not taboo tuesday. So, yes there would be a storyline, maybe starting at no way out or as far back as the rumble.
as far as the rock is concern, although he might be being advised to stay away if the story was right i'm sure he'd return. He just feels he's done it all and there's nothing left to prove and he's off to top the next mountain. He's got a solid place in hollywood and one more run wouldn't hurt him there. Nor would it take long to build the match up.

dude, the rock is not in wrestling shape anymore he has dropped alot of weight and he is dropping the rock nickname, again trying to distance himself from wrestling. right now he is still a B list actor in hollywood and he wants to be an A list star like brad pitt or george clooney or johnny depp. i am sad to say that the rock's days in wrestling are over unless his hollywood career goes down the tubes. even good ole j.r. will tell you that!
from about 1 month ago
what do you mean he's not in wrestling shape anymore? because he dropped 40-50 lbs.? He's a natural athletic ability and could run circles around most anyone if he lost 100 lbs. He's bigger than jeff hardy, are you gonna tell me jeff isn't in wrestling shape. He lost a lot of weight but he's lean now. He used to be big and bulky, even after the liposuction.
and does he want to come back...no. we all know that. We know he's focused on acting. But does that mean he'll never return, nope. Anything's possible in the WWE. even good ole j.r. will tell you that.

As a older wrestling fan I would love to see Macho man vs Steamboat. That was probably the most exciting match I have ever seen.
from about 1 month ago
wow, that would've been a great one in their prime. But at 50 something, i'm not sure savage can hit the ropes. he hasn't been active, minus some bad cameos in a couple of c-list movies, in some time now.

If you have never seen the original It happened during Wrestlemania 3 and can be seen on YouTube Here is the URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmr8ZBOFKEM. After watching it this morning I forgot how entertaining Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse the body Ventura were as commentators. Also, here is a link with a current picture of Randy Savage. www.tmz.com/2008/11/19/macho-man-randy-savage-memba-him/ And you are right I doubt he could go back in the ring right now.
I hope that the WWE will do a legends match. It just might bring old time fans like me back to watch.

wow, randy's older than I thought. what about a legends match randy vs. father time? Loser leaves the planet.

like i said if his movie career tanks then welcome back "the rock", otherwise you will have a better chance of seeing andre the giant come back! :0)
