According to the UFC facebook page, Brock Lesnar will face Alistair Overeem in a five-round fight in December at the MGM Grand Arena, tentatively named UFC 141.

This news comes as a bit of a shock, as Lesnar had been suffering from a severe second battle with diverticulitis. It has been reported that 12 inches of his colon had to be removed in his most recent surgery.

Overeem was recently cut from Strikeforce, following his withdrawal from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. Overeem had defeated Fabricio Werdum by unanimous decision in the opening round, and was set to face Antonio Silva in the second round. Nagging injuries prevented Overeem from being ready for the September date, which forced him to drop out.

Fans had been awaiting official word of Overeem's signing for a few days now. It was reported by Swedish website MMAnyt.se yesterday that Overeem was on his way to Las Vegas to sign the contract, a report originally denied by Overeem himself.
