Rumors seem to be floating around Tampa Bay about the abrupt dismissal of head coach Barry Melrose.
I was lucky enough to talk to someone in a circle of people around that organization. From what I gathered, most of the stories I have head over the last few days are true. There was some undermining going on with assistant coaches, and players against their coach.
And I do not really want to get into what a clown like Rick Tocchet said about Barry Melrose. Because to be honest I think he does not deserve to be employed at this point in his life in the NHL. This is the same guy who got busted for gambling in some pretty large ring correct? How people have forgotten about that.

My largest concern is that the players are seeming to run the locker room and the operations of the organization having a large amount of say in coaching decisions. I am not trying to defend Barry Melrose one bit, but I think it was a pretty classless way they let the man go from his job. For all the great things owners said about him when bringing him in, it seems to have all been smoke and mirrors.
New ownership, a ton of new players, one of the most anticipated draft picks coming to your team, and you got less than 20 games to figure it all out. If this is the way Tampa is going to continue to treat their coaching staff, I wish them all the luck in the world because they will consistently struggle to be a .500 team with that approach.
