Tonight’s game between the Oregon Ducks and the LSU Tigers is what could have been for the Bowl Championship Series, if, and this is a big if, LSU was able to get past Alabama and Auburn last year. Last year, you could have seen both teams at 100 percent go at it against each other with the National Championship Crystal Ball on the line.

Instead, Oregon did their part by running the table in their non-conference and Pac-10 schedule. They took down their South Eastern Conference opponent last year when they went on the road to Knoxville, Tennessee to face the University of Tennessee.

This year, Oregon makes another trip to out of Eugene, Oregon to face an SEC team. However, they don’t have to go into Death Valley to face the LSU Tigers. Instead, they get to meet in Dallas, Texas at the new Cowboy’s stadium in prime time on ABC.

This game on Saturday night is what could have been. It could have been the amazing offense of Chip Kelly and Oregon against the excellent game-planning of Les Miles and his LSU Tigers.

Instead of two teams playing for a National Title, we get two teams playing in Week 1 of their season.

Oh well, at least we are going to get some great football to open the season.
