Baseball WAGs: 11 Potential Replacements for Derek Jeter's Ex Minka Kelly

When New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and girlfriend Minka Kelly called it quits a few weeks ago, the baseball world shed a single tear.

Baseball's favorite couple, the Captain and his First Mate, were no longer and the rest of the world that watched in awe couldn't help but sob over the love lost between these two superstars.

Okay, so it wasn't that dramatic, but you have to agree, it is pretty upsetting.

Without Kelly, baseball's team of WAGs took a major hit. She was sort of like their captain, as Jeter is to the Yankees. That got us here at Bleacher Report to thinking: If the WAGs don't add to their ranks soon, they may be in some trouble.

So with that in mind, I've assembled a list of the market's hottest bachelorettes, waiting for a call from Jeter and a chance to be so much more than just another girl, but the one that the Captain finally feels comfortable calling his own.

Of course, because this list sounds so much like a dating show, it would be wrong of me not to do it in a tone that matches the quality of the content. Allow me to just say this in advance: You're welcome.

11. Diana DeGarmo

Who is behind curtain No. 11?

Well it's none other than former American Idol contestant, Diana DeGarmo. Since coming up short in her bid to outlast Fantasia Barrino for the title of American Idol Winner, she has gone on to bigger and better things.

Her album Blue Skies, released in 2004, made its way on to the American charts at No. 52 and released a single, "Dreams," that cracked the top 20 in American and reached No. 2 in Canada.

Though she's been flying under the radar since the release of her album, DeGarmo has continued to produce quality music, including an "unplugged" album recorded live from Nashville, Tennessee in 2009. A tenure as the Captain's girl could do her career wonders.

10. Whitney Port

Breaking into the even-numbered curtains, is there a blond beauty waiting behind this one?

There is! All of you reality TV fans out there will recognize this candidate right away. She made a name for herself on MTV's hit reality series The Hills and has been climbing up the popularity ladder ever since. This beauty is, of course, none other than Whitney Port.

After acquiring some of her resources in the business of reality television, this empowered woman took on a number of other ventures on her pursuit of happiness, including advancing her talents in both fashion design and writing.

As we've seen in the past, Jeter likes talented women and Port is certainly talented on a number of fronts.

9. Lauren Conrad

The lovely lady behind curtain No. 9 has much more in common with the lady behind curtain No. 10 than you would assume.

Not only is Lauren Conrad a blond beauty, but she was featured prominently on MTV's reality television series, Laguna Beach. Her work on that show led to a following, which of course, led to a new show and she became the star of another MTV series, The Hills, with Whitney Port as her co-star. 

But the similarities run much deeper. While she has only toyed with writing, Conrad is an aspiring fashion designer and would much rather be successful in that regard as opposed to being known solely for her work on a couple of reality television series.

Her line of work could receive a boost in popularity should Mr. Jeter become her No. 2 model.

8. Kristin Cavallari

Now wait just a moment. Are you telling me that there is a third candidate that shares some of the same qualities as the last two? The choices are surely getting increasingly more challenging!

That third blond beauty is none other than Kristin Cavallari. Go easy on her, as though she has dated an athlete in the past, she is a relatively new face on the dating scene. Featuring on The Hills and Laguna Beach, she caught the eye of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, but the fit was not right.

Now that she has been able to get more involved with her numerous charities, this educated beauty could be the next in line for Derek Jeter and would be a welcome addition to the family of baseball WAGs.

It wouldn't be the first time that Derek Jeter has entered a relationship with an actress playing small roles and turned her into a star.

Behind curtain No. 5 awaits quite the surprise for the New York Yankees shortstop.

She has been involved with a number of different ventures at this stage in her young career, but Aubrey O'Day's most notable work comes from her days with Danity Kane, the band comprised of the winning members of Making the Band 3.

Please, do not think that this gorgeous lead singer is a one-trick pony. O'Day has also modeled for a number of magazines, including Playboy and was a part of the popular Broadway musical, Hairspray.

At 42 years young, Aniston is actually older than the Captain, but that doesn't mean much. After all, she's one of the most attractive options on this list.

3. Olivia Munn

We've already seen our fair share of beautiful ladies, but we're not done yet. We've reached curtain No. 4 to reveal the lovely Olivia Munn.

This dark haired goddess has made a name for herself as the hostess on the G4 network's daily gaming news show, Attack of the Show. For the sake of her gig, she's done a number of hilarious stunts and even went so far as to do a stunning costume play of Princess Leia.

Moreover, this stunning hostess has been climbing up the popularity charts and won't be single for long.

2. Rihanna

We've reached the final two contestants in our little sweepstakes, but fear not, it's hard to go wrong with either of these choices. First, the runner-up.

Obviously, a runner-up like Rihanna is a nice dilemma to have. The singer and actress has been involved with the baseball dating scene before, so she won't have any of the baggage that sometimes turns up when girls can't handle the media pressure and daily questions that arise while dating a guy like Derek Jeter.

A beautiful young singer just breaking into the acting business, Rihanna is a unique blend of veteran experience in one industry while being considered "up and coming" in another.

In the end, of course, there can only be one winner.
