Gamecocks at Home, Walking the Pirates' Plank
South Carolina-East Carolina
We have already seen No.14 TCU go down and No.23 Auburn and No. 25 USC survive big scares at home from Utah State and Minnesota.
And now, South Carolina is in a cock fight with a pirate with more moves than Johnny Depp. How many times have we told you, Spurrier, not to invite pirates over?
East Carolina leads No.24 South Carolina 24-14 at half time.
Not to worry, though. East Carolina has a habit of blowing early leads to favored opponents.
Against North Carolina, Virginia Tech and North Carolina State last year the Pirates shot out of the gate to build an early lead. In each game, ECU gave up its lead.
Spurrier surprised the nation when he announced that Connor Shaw would be starting at quarterback in this game and that Senior Stephen Garcia would come in for the second quarter.
Who will play in the second half to lead the Gamecocks in a comeback?
The math is easy.
With Shaw behind center South Carolina put up zero points in the first quarter.
With Garcia behind center South Carolina put up 14 points in the second quarter.
It seems that Spurrier may have made a mistake to not start Garcia.
