As reported by Fox News, Linda McMahon said the WWE has been releasing many superstars over the past few weeks because they are trying to cut $20 million in expenditures over the next year.
They have not reached the magic number just yet, so more releases are going to happen. Who will be cut has not been determined so far. But rumors say if you don't play a significant role in the WWE, you could be gone.
The 2008 release club is very long, and includes the likes of Ashley, Bobby Lashley, Paul London, Big Daddy V, and others. They may be looking at FCW talent and releasing the people they see as unfit superstars.
Which seems bad to me, but really if you are in the WWE and you cannot be at the level of everyone else who has been there as long as you have, you need to go in my opinion.
Matt Stricker did a smart thing by asking to be the new announcer on ECW after Tazz left for SmackDown, only after Mick Foley left the company and went to TNA. And that seems to working out, and he is being praised by management.
It looks as if his job, which was in jeopardy, is now safe. Many superstars need to come up with something like Striker did, fast, or they could be part of the WWE's 2008 future endeavors club.
