According to a Hennepin County police report, Dustin Byfuglien was arrested around 11 p.m. He was later released at 2:23 Thursday morning. Official charges are still pending.

While boating under the influence is certainly a serious matter, fans of the new Winnipeg Jets have another major concern from this report. Byfuglien reportedly weighs 286 pounds, up almost 40 from his playing weight last year when he was an All-Star for the first time.

Byfuglien scored 20 goals and was credited with 33 assists last year. He signed a five-year, $26 million extension with the then-Atlanta Thrashers that was to begin this season. The Thrashers/Jets acquired him from Chicago after a brilliant performance during the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2010 in a blockbuster trade that also saw, among others, Ben Eager and Brent Sopel end up in Atlanta and prospect Jeremy Morin headed to the Blackhawks.
