Breaking Down The NFL Playoff Picture...In Limericks!
With Week 11 of the NFL in the books, there are just six weeks left for teams to jostle for playoff position.
Here are some limericks breaking down my picks (six AFC teams and six NFC teams) of how the teams and seeds will shake out by season's end.
All comments are appreciated, and comments in limerick form are encouraged.
Here we go.....
1. AFC South: Tennessee Titans (10-0)
Much to Jeff Fisher's delight
No one can stop Johnson and White
White should quit eating Ben & Jerry's
But he'll keep getting carries
And a No. 1 seed is in sight
2. AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3)
Pittsburgh’s schedule has been really tough
And games vs. Dallas and Tennessee will be rough
But Parker’s injury is tended,
And the defense looks splendid
This team’s good, and that’s no bluff.
3. AFC East: New York Jets (7-3)
This division is full of unknowns
But the difference is Thomas Jones
Last season he was boring,
But this year he’s scoring
That means more Brett Favre (everyone groans).
4. AFC West: Denver Broncos (6-4)
The Broncos are the best of the worst
And have a two-game lead in first
But this offense is tame
Without a running game
At this rate they may need to sign Garrison Hearst.
5. AFC Wild Card: Indianapolis Colts (6-4)
Indy has quietly rolled off three straight
And the team’s in a much better state
There’s still work to be done
And Addai must continue to run
But the postseason should be Indy’s fate.
6. AFC Wild Card: New England Patriots (6-4)
I think the Pats will land the last slot
Cassel throws on target and runs a lot
After the Dolphins and Titans,
The tough schedule lightens
But that defense is still a weak spot.
1. NFC East: New York Giants (9-1)
So far, Eli has just one loss
He’s finding his wideouts and Kevin Boss
Talks of 15-1 are futile,
As the schedule gets brutal
But the defensive is top notch (i.e. Aaron Ross).
2. NFC West: Arizona Cardinals (7-3)
At 7-3, ‘Zona never says never
Kurt Warner may as well play forever
Fitzgerald and Boldin
Continue to be golden
And this team plays in the worst division….ever.
3. NFC South: Carolina Panthers (8-2)
The Panthers haven’t looked good as of late
And now the Falcons, Packers and Bucs await
But if Delhomme keeps his cool
And doesn’t throw picks like a fool
The odds of winning the South are great.
4. NFC North: Green Bay Packers (5-5)
There are three teams tied at 5-5
But I think the Packers come out alive
Grant has figured things out
Giving the offense more clout
If the defense steps up, they’ll survive.
5. NFC Wild Card: Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
It’s a good thing that Romo is back
Now Dallas has a passing attack
This team isn’t stable,
But could still run the table
No matter what, Wade Phillips will catch some flack.
6. NFC Wild Card: Washington Redskins (6-4)
Yes, the Bucs have more wins
But this is where Washington’s run begins
And once the team clicks
They should win four of six
And that will be enough for the 'Skins.
