The Record of North Jersey has been running some sort of voting competition for hockey fans in the tri-state area.
Basically, a position is offered (say, defenseman), with one player offered from the Devils, and one from the Rangers (say, Scott Stevens and Brian Leetch). Fans then vote on who is the better of the two.
Well, on Sunday, voting ended for the left-wing segment of this happy gimmick. Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils faced Adam Graves of the New York Rangers. And, whaddayaknow—Elias won!
Oh, Elias didn't win. Elias TRUMPED. Elias PWNED. Elias opened up a can of whoop-ass and spanked poor old Gravesy by a score of 74 to 26 percent.
A moral victory for my darling Devs—and something quite welcome, seeing how regular-type victories don't come easy for this minor-league team.
