Miami Football: Why the Bye Week Is the Perfect Time for This Hurricanes Team
Rest easy Miami Hurricanes fans, your Canes this week are off; which means they cannot lose another game in the fourth quarter.
At the beginning of the year it looked as if the early bye week was going to hurt Hurricanes Coach, Al Golden, and his football team. This is the only week that they are going to be off during their whole 2011 season.
But, after what this team went through during the off season, with the convicted Ponzi Scheme and former Miami Booster Nevin Shapiro ruining any chance this team had at an Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, they early bye week is a good thing.
Shapiro allegedly was paying the players for performances on the field it resulted in half of their team being suspended for the first game of the season.
Now, the bye week gives a chance for Golden and the Hurricanes to re-group, re-focus, and re-evaluate their talent that they will have for the remainder of the season.
The bye week gives the Hurricanes a week to get their offense ready for the Ohio State Buckeyes, who come to Miami next week. With their starting quarterback, Jacory Harris, back from suspension for the Ohio State game, the bye week let’s him make up for the time he missed from the Shaprio suspension.
The bye week was originally a burden that could have effected the team later on in the season. Now the bye week is just what this young Miami team needed. How they come out of their week off will determine if they’re a contending ACC Championship team.
