Bears-Packers: Bears Defense Didn't Make The Trip

That's right, the Chicago Bears defense did not make the trip to Green Bay on Sunday. At least that's what you would think when you heard Ryan Grant ran for 145 yards on the Bears fourth ranked rush defense. The final score was 37-3 in favor of the Pack.

Well, there is not much to say about this one, except the Bears sucked. Striaght up, no fancy way to put it or anything. They just sucked. The lone highlight for the Bears was an interception by Brian Urlacher. Other than that, the Bears defense allowed a total of 200 rush yards. They also allowed Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to pass for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

QB Kyle Orton returned for the Bears, which I personally think was too soon, but I think a lot about how stupid some of the Bears decisions are. Also, WR Brandon Lloyd returned and made the first reception by a WR in the game. I only mention that because it was sometime in the third quarter. Now I told you what the only highlight for the Bears was, but now I will tell you the only good thing to come out of the game for Chicago.

Matt Forte. Again Forte gained 104 total yards from scrimmage and now has 1,099 total yards on the year. Like I said that was it.

What this means?

For the Bears, it means that they have a lot of corrections to make on both sides of the ball. They need to learn to adjust the game plan as the game goes on. Chicago needs to focus on their pass defense and realize that the cover-two does not work on every play.

For Green Bay, this is a big win and with the performance by Ryan Grant, it may be enough to carry them into the post season. You can argue that it was a great rebound from the loss to the Vikings, but I think it was more of how bad the Bears played.

My Analysis

I put this loss solely on the shoulders of the Bears coaching staff, Lovie Smith in particular. With that said, the question in Chicago will go from "Who's going to be pitching for the Cubs?" to "When will Lovie be fired?" I think it is too early to ask that, but I will say that I do not understand most of the plays called in the situations they are called or the order the are run in.

I also blame the front office for the Bears problems this season, but I will talk more about that in a future article. Chicago is now last in a three horse race in the NFC North.
