The Detroit Lions nation is reeling from the shocking loss of longtime Lions reporter Tom "Killer" Kowalski.

Kowalski was once a reporter for the Oakland Press and handled the popular Lions blog for MLive.com.

Tom was always a straight shooter whose positions were sometimes controversial but always defensible.  He was a fan favorite as the Lions insider.  He gave so much to his passion for all things Lions.  Kowalski did drive-time segments on WDFN in Detroit, answered fan questions via e-mail and had regular online chats with fans.

My acquaintance with Tom was too brief to share anecdotally.  I'll leave that to those who knew him far better and longer than I have.

We will miss Tom's wisdom and his wry sense of humor.  The "Killer" was the most trusted voice in Lions coverage for Lions fans everywhere for over 30 years.
