The Oakland Raiders Must Rise Up and Stand Strong Like a Great Elephant in NFL

Honor Warren Wells TheTorch@dbintayaelSenior Writer IIAugust 29, 2011

"Commitment to excellence" is the motto of the Oakland Raiders. The elephant also symbolizes commitment, royalty and strength.

That is why the Oakland Raiders must be like an elephant and exhibit those qualities in the NFL.

Furthermore, we can learn a lot from the elephant. Consider this quote:

"Elephants communicate telepathically with herd members as well as other elephants. As we choose to become closer and more open with those dear to us, our ability to understand them can deepen to a level that transcends speech."

That's what is needed among the interaction of the 2011 Oakland Raiders. They need to work together so closely, listen to each other so attentively, and read each other's non-verbal senses so accurately that it will seem as though they have a telepathic gift. This will help them to know where other players are and not miss the mark in 2011.

The Oakland Raiders must become "closer and more open with those dear to them"—their teammates.

The team needs to develop "an ability to understand each other."

They must become so close on the playing field that they "understand each other so deeply" and in turn, the players will reach a level that "transcends speech."

This telepathic nature seemed to exist in the George Blanda, Fred Biletnikoff, Daryle Lamonica and Warren Wells era. These men worked so well together, and I believe that they had the telepathic qualities of an elephant.

If not, then they must have had a very powerful commitment to excellence which allowed them to transcend speech and to communicate in other ways.

This generation of Oakland Raiders must develop that quality, that "x-factor" and that intangible gift that helped the team win games in the past.

Go Raiders! In a symbolic way, show your gifts and get in sync with your colleagues on the playing field.

Make those touchdowns!
