There is a question that needs to be asked for California Golden Bear fans: Is Kevin Riley being used correctly?

The answer is no! Here's another question that has to be asked: Why is he starting over Nate Longshore?

The answer was because he had better mobility than Longshore, who is more of a pocket passer. So, if the reason why Riley is starting is because of his mobility then why are the Bears taking advantage of it?

The issue now with Riley is that he can avoid a pass rush. There's no question about that. The problem is that when his pocket collapses, he's still trying to make a play down the field with his arm instead of using his leg.

There was only one time in the game against the Beavers that Riley took off with the ball, and he got 5 yards on the play.

There was another point in the game where he should have just thrown the ball away after escaping the initial rush. Instead, Riley was just concentrating on getting the ball off and the Beavers defender just hit his arm right before he was going to release the ball. It was a fumble that backed the Bears up 19 yards for a second-and-29.

If the Bears want to start Riley, that's fine. They just need to use his strengths more. So, more rollouts using Riley where he has the option of passing or running. There's no doubt that Riley has a strong arm and that he can throw on the run.

So the question is: When are the Bears going to start using the strengths of Riley?
