With one game left for Auburn this season. unless the Tigers can somehow manage to derail the Crimson Tide, the remaining question many are asking is: Did Tommy Tuberville just coach his last game at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium as Auburn's head coach?
No one knows for sure. If they were waiting for a last-second resurgence today's close loss to Georgia was their best chance. Alabama is waiting like a junk yard dog straining his chain to the breaking point to get at these Tigers for much delayed payback.
It will not be the ending to an Auburn career that Tuberville wants, and it may be the straw the decides the final decision. Alabama would love to be team that kills his career, at least at Auburn.
One thing is for sure. Tuberville will be coaching somewhere next year if he wants to.
What is not for sure is the decision Auburn will make.
There is the buyout for one; it's going to cost Auburn some serious dollars, but Auburn has a long history of paying coaches to watch games on TV.
Secondly, there is the question of who will be available. There's not another Nick Saban sitting out there waiting to be plucked. Tuberville may be better than what's available out there.
Some have hinted that Auburn will make a statement this week before the Iron Bowl to either confirm or deny his departure. Others say it may be after the game. Either way, the sports world waits to see.
