Today's Georgia at Auburn contest was supposed to be cakewalk for the Dogs. Auburn was to continue stumbling towards a miserable season's end, and Georgia was supposed to finish strong.
The game came down to a final throw in the end zone by Auburn's QB Burns that went out of the back of the end zone.
So with the conclusion in the record books and the 17-13 Georgia win staring you in the face, the question is, was Auburn that good, or Georgia that bad?
Of course with only 13 points to put up including a blocked extra point, it's pretty obvious that Auburn's offense was bad, but that's not news anymore.
Holding Georgia to 17 points, the Auburn defense either appeared very good, or Georgia's offense was running on seven cylinders.
The truth of the game of course, was Georgia was just that bad. The Bulldog defense did an OK job holding Auburn to only 124 yards rushing and 179 yards passing. But the offense failed to much better that Auburn's total output.
Georgia rushed for 136 yards, passed for 215 more and had only 48 yards more than one of worst offenses in the entire SEC. This was a case of stumbling team beating a bumbling team.
Both teams lost a fumble, and both teams missed field goals that could have been made.
In the end, Georgia's superior play-makers made a difference. Georgia's freshman phenom Green made a spectacular grab for a TD and Stafford made some key throws when they needed them. That was the difference.
Both may have been bad today, but clearly Georgia's play makers are better on a bad day than Auburn's on a typical Auburn day this year.
