So, Rick Neuheisel said he's sorry, but should we accept his apology?
Like it or not, Rick Neuheisel is back. There is no way of downplaying his return. No way.
After years of wandering from Rainier Beach High School as an assistant coach to the Baltimore Ravens as an assistant coach, he's back. Remember the Seattle Times' Special Report, "Victory in Ruins"?
Neuheisel was the coach during that time. Whether it was his fault or not, everyone can agree at least a little part of the blame belongs to him. Why have the Huskies been so bad for six or seven years?
Maybe it was Neuheisel's "offense first, defense second" recruiting approach. But that's a big maybe. I would hate to play the "what if" game. But "what if"?
Would the Huskies be where they are right now or would they be on the verge of a BCS Championship, or somewhere in between?
We'll never know.
Things happen for a reason, and in a brief flirtation with the past, it's important to not get too involved in it.
Bottom line, Rick or as some call him, "Slick Rick," screwed the Huskies, even if it was in the smallest way. Now he's back to screw the helpless Huskies again, and this time he's going to be on the opposite sideline.
It'll be interesting to see if the boo birds will be flying high when he comes out of the tunnel he's walked out of many times before. I can't wait.
