NFL 2008 Week 11: Baltimore Ravens Face-Off Against Giants

Dean MikelisCorrespondent INovember 15, 2008

The NFL’s top-ranked rushing offense of the Giants squares off against the top run defense of the Baltimore Ravens.  The Ravens have not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 28 straight games, the longest active streak of this kind in the NFL.

The Giants' "Earth, Wind and Fire" backfield combination of Brandon Jacobs (Earth), Derrick Ward (Wind) and Ahmad Bradshaw (Fire) have dominated the NFL 2008 season and have led the Giants to an 8-1 record -- Tops in the NFC; Second to the undefeated Titans this NFL 2008 season.  The Baltimore Ravens are lead by their linebacker and team fixture Ray Lewis.

So the "Earth, Wind and Fire" backfield of the Giants better be ready for Ray Lewis and the boys.  It shapes up to be their most significant defensive test of the regular season

The game also features an interesting matchup at quarterback.  Giants QB Eli Manning, the No. 1 overall draft choice in 2004 and Super Bowl-winning quarterback, against the second QB taken in the NFL 2008 draft (No. 18 overall), Joe Flacco.

Eli Manning has steered the Giants to the second-best record in the NFL, while Joe Flacco has led the Ravens to one more victory than they had all of last year.  The rookie surprise has led the Ravens to four wins in a row and has not thrown an interception in 111 consecutive attempts. This week however, rookie QB Flacco faces the NFL’s No. 3 sack team.

Earlier in the NFL 2008 season the Giants had an axe to grind with the Cowboys.  The Giants still have their Super Bowl XXXV loss to the Ravens on their mind and "Ray Ray" Lewis has been doing some talking this week.  That all said, expect the New York Giants to come away with an easy 31-10 victory and earn a little payback.
