Penske Racing's Will Power was fined $30,000 and put on probation through the end of the 2011 Izod IndyCar Series season for his actions two weeks ago in New Hampshire.
Power was fuming after getting caught up in a wreck on a late restart on Lap 217 and was caught flipping the one-finger salute on both hands to race control and using inappropriate language during his interviews.
In his defense, he had every right to be angry in that chief steward Brian Barnhart had the field go back to green flag action while the track was extremely wet. All 18 drivers running at the time said they couldn't go back green due to the wet racing surface and Barnhart ignored them all.
Power got hit by Ed Carpenter and both hit the inside wall coming to the green and Power originally went from fifth place to out of contention, which would have ruined a potentially good points day, since points leader Dario Franchitti had gotten caught up in an earlier wreck on a restart.
Power's frustration came from thinking that all the points he gained were thrown away by a lack of judgement by Barnhart. Later Barnhart decided that the restart didn't happen and to revert back to the way they were running before going green. Power ended up finishing fifth due to the race ending because of rain.
